Weigh In and Catching Up ...

Gosh ... where does the time go? I thought with my kids back at school there would be more time to blog but I seem to have less time.

I have been tracking my weight at the side of the blog even though I have not posted an official weigh in post. You can see it went up a bit but it's come back down again (I do not freak out about what the scale is doing ... I just keep on keeping on).

Today my weight was 195 - a total loss of 42.5 pounds. I still can't believe it to be honest. I officially weigh less today than when I got pregnant with my oldest son (who is about to turn 10!).

I had an amazing moment on Friday. My husband and I were planning a two day trip to the US to do some shopping and I needed something to wear to dinner (I live in yoga wear). I tried on everything in my closet and it was all so big I couldn't even try to wear it. Normally I put it all back with the thought that someday I may need them again - I'm never really sure how long I can keep the weight off. Not this time ... I put them all in a pile for donation. I got teary eyed when I explained it to my mom (who came to watch the kiddies) - it's the first time EVER in my life that I know the weight will not come back. It's such an overwhelming feeling that I get emotional when I think about it ...

Fall is in the air here. I took the boys apple picking a few weeks ago - not much picking. Ontario was hit with a late frost which wiped out most of the apple crops. My local organic farmer managed to save about 70% of his crop but he has a small crop to start with. The boys enjoyed them (none for me since half an apple would cause a significant blood sugar spike).

Some apples are 300% sweeter now than heirloom varieties - crazy ...

My new favorite breakfast is 2 scrambled eggs with some red pepper, ham, cheddar cheese and full fat sour cream (I buy organic). I first read about sour cream on eggs from Jimmy Moore and it didn't sound too appetizing but I have to tell ya' ... they are divine! I've been eating them for a few weeks now and I'm not tired of them yet.

It's so filling that I seldom eat much lunch. I'll have a little something or I'll have a little something with my afternoon tea and then a good dinner of protein/veggies.

The longer I'm grain free/sugar free the less hungry I am - also an amazing feeling. I also find my desire for "snacks" diminishing. I still do enjoy protein bars or the occasional piece of dark chocolate but I'm less and less interested in devising homemade "sweets".

On our trip to the US we bought the All-Clad Classic Waffle Maker and I gave it a test run last night with this recipe from Carolyn at All Day I Dream About Food. It was chaos so I didn't get any photos but everyone (even the kids) loved it. We had them with farm fresh bacon and the kids had butter, strawberries and syrup. I had mine with Nature's Hollow syrup. Next time I'll get some photos. I'm thinking these would be wonderful with whipped cream and a few berries next time (oh my ...).

My family doesn't like Belgian waffles (they find them too thick) so we were pleased
to find this classic style. It's a winner!

I also snagged the one and only donut pan at the Target we visited so I'm exited to try some chocolate donuts for my kids (they are more exited).

It feels so good to get back on here and post - I hope I can keep it up more regularly.

  1. I am so happy for you! What an amazing weight loss and life change that you are experiencing! Congrats and a big pat on the back:)
It's funny that you come to the U.S. to shop, back in the day we would go to Canada to shop. I think our dollar was worth like 1.5 times the value. I know that's not true anymore:(
I have never intentionally eaten sour cream? How weird is that? I just started eating a lot more melted cheese since I started doing BFC.
I am happy and excited for you:)

    1. Thanks Kay! It is a truly amazing experience so far. Our dollar is on par with the US dollar which is great but I especially like going down for the selection. You guys just have a way better selection. I bought two beautiful coats at Lord & Taylor (which we don't have here).

  3. Way to go with the weight inching down! I was so thrilled to see your post and the positive results you are having. This weekend I will have to try the eggs and sour cream,it sounds creamy and filling. Unfortunately I have to limit eggs as they sometimes flair up my digestive system. Thus why I eat them on the weekends:) Your posts inspire me.
